Simonsberg-Stellenbosch

The Simonsberg-Stellenbosch Ward is a small ward in the center of Stellenbosch with just 25 wineries. The unique combination of soil, warm climate, and winemaking traditions results in wines that exhibit complexity, structure, and a remarkable sense of place. It is located on the southwestern slopes of Simonsberg Mountain, where soils range from granite in the slopes to the clay and sandstone-rich valley floor. This allows for the cultivation of a wide variety of grape varietals, but is particularly celebrated for its Bordeaux-style blends of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc.
