Founder & President, Peter Andrews, recently had the opportunity to be featured on How I Built This Advice Line with host Guy Raz and guest host Susan Griffin-Black, co-founder of EO Soap. I shared the story of Culture Wine Co., including what inspired me to start it, where we are today, and the central tension I’m navigating as a one-person operation: how to grow a business while also growing an entire category. South African wine is one of the most exciting, underrepresented stories in the wine world, and the work of changing that perception in the U.S. is as much about education and storytelling as it is about sales.

We got into the real strategic questions around wholesale versus DTC, how to think about building brand equity for Culture Wine Co. alongside the individual wineries I represent, and what it means to operate in a fragmented distribution landscape with real supply constraints. Susan brought a fascinating outside lens as someone who has built a purpose-driven consumer brand from the ground up.
